Class Supply List 2021-22

Below is a list of supplies you will need to provide for your students’ classes.

 

Biology:

Apologia Exploring Creation with Biology Textbook 3rd edition (not the test book or journal, just the text)

– Colored pencils for lab drawings (erasable is ideal but not required)

– 1.5” 3-ring binder

 

 

Chemistry:

Apologia Exploring Creation with Chemistry 3rd edition (not the test book or workbook, just the text)
–  Calculator
–  Loose paper or notebook that can have pages torn out
– 1-inch binder, recommended

 

Drama:

– No supplies required

 

Economics:

Economics, Work and Prosperity by Russell Kirk, 3rd edition
– 1.5″ 3-ring binder

 

Elementary Art

– Highly recommended: Portfolio holder (approximately 12”×18“) to keep your artwork neat and protected. These vary in quality and price. You can also make your own out of cardboard and packing tape.

 

Elementary Literature:

– Students will need  to check out from the library or purchase the following books: Because of Winn Dixie, By the Great Horn Spoon, Esperanza Rising, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, and Tuck Everlasting.  The class will discuss poems in class from the book Favorite Poems Old and New: Selected For Boys and Girls They do not need to be specific ISBNs. If you are going to be checking out books from the library, I will let you know when books are finishing up so you can have the next book reserved.

Elementary Science:

– Folder that fits in binder (label one pocket of the folder “homework “ and the other pocket “graded”)

– Colored pencils, markers, or crayons (whichever is preferred)
– Paper

 

Essentials for Writing:

– 4 divider tabs
– Loose-leaf paper
– Pencils
– Handwriting is fully acceptable, but if you would like your student to type their novel for NANO WRIMO, access to some sort of laptop or chromebook that they can bring to class for the month of November is ideal.

**Students not taking Jr. High Literature need to purchase a copy (or get one at the library) of A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park. The book will be needed for class after Christmas break.

 

Jr. High Literature:

-Students will need to check out from the library or purchase the following books: Cheaper By the Dozen by Frank G. Gilbreth & Ernestine Gilbreth Carey, A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park, Indian Captive by Lois Lenski, When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead, Elijah of Buxton by Christopher Paul Curtis and Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech.  If there is time we will also read The Bronze Bow by Elizabeth George Speare. They do not need to be specific ISBNs.

Jr. High General Science

Apologia Exploring Creation with General Science Textbook, 3rd edition

– 3 ring binder with folder

Jr./Sr. High Art (please note that different supplies are needed for each semester)

First Semester (Drawing/Graphite)-

  • Sketchpad or mixed media pad minimum size 9 x 12 
  • Drawing pencils set (a variety of B, HB and H pencils) (Michael’s sells a drawing kit that has most of what you need at an affordable price)
  • Good kneaded eraser, as well as, an art eraser
  • Couple different size stumps, or diffusers
  • Good pencil sharpener
  • Ruler
  • Artist chamois
  • Sanding block
  • Folder (for handouts)
  • pencil box that is long enough for your drawing pencils
  • Thick cardstock piece (the same size as your sketchpad)

Second semester (Watercolor) –

  • Student watercolor set (at least 12 colors)
  • Watercolor or multimedia brushes
  • Watercolor or mixed media pad greater than 8×11 ̈
  • Tube of white watercolor paint
  • Masking tape
  • Hard, thick foam board 5 inches bigger than your watercolor pad of paper
  • 2 containers for water
  • Palette (bigger than a hand)
  • Drawing pencils (for sketching your painting)
  • 4 poster boards (you choose the color)
  • Folder (for handouts)
  • pencil box that is long enough for your brushes

 

Language Arts:

Physical Education:
