Curriculum Link: https://www.christianbook.com/science-in-the-beginning/jay-wile/9780989042406/pd/042406?event=ESRCG
Science in the Beginning introduces scientific concepts using history as its guide. The beginning of history is given in the Bible's creation account, and this book uses the days of creation as a way of introducing a wide range of scientific concepts including the nature of light, energy conservation, the properties of air and water, introductory botany, our solar system, basic zoology, and some aspects of human anatomy and physiology. As the students learn about these scientific concepts, they are constantly reminded of the Creator who fashioned the marvels they are studying, and focusing on more than one branch of science during the course of a year keeps the students engaged and introduces them to concepts which they will continue to master throughout their Jr. and Sr. High science experiences. This course will include hands-on experimentation and an introduction to microscopy.

Essentials for Writing is designed to introduce students to fundamental elements of the writing process. It is ideal for students who need to establish and hone writing skills before they jump into a more intense writing class with less specific feedback, like Introduction to Writing. In Essentials for Writing A, students will explore a variety of fiction and non-fiction writing styles, with an emphasis on organization, sentence structure, paragraph formation, editing, and revising. Over the course of the year, a variety of essays, articles, poetry, and short stories will be written.
